REQUEST OUR DACAPRIO DVD
Our DVD features breathtaking footage of Dacaprio and horses from his highly acclaimed bloodline. If you would like to order a DVD about Dacaprio or one of our other stallions, please contact us. Here are some of the comments we have received:
"He is everything I had hoped he would be and more!! Thank you so much for sending the DVD of Dacaprio. To see not only him in motion, but also his parentage and offspring was truly a treat. I could go on about all the reasons I think he is wonderful...but I am more then sure you know them (and then some) already! I would also like to add, that like your web site I was impressed by how professional and well done the DVD was. I will admit getting Dacaprio's video has made me more excited about the idea of finally having a foal that I can raise, train, compete with, and adore." Stacia
"Thanks so much for the DVD; I think it is exceptionally well done. It is thrilling to see how many nice foals have been produced out of such diverse mare lines. Dacaprio seems to very consistently throw offspring similar to himself, regardless of the mare type." Jane, breeding two mares to Dacaprio in '08.
"I received the DVD today. Great video!! Dacaprio looks gorgeous..." Christina
"Received Dacaprio's dvd today and ran right into the house to watch it. What a treat!! Thank you so much for bringing this fine stallion to American breeders. Now can't wait for SPS Blanche to have her Fabuleux foal and have both SPS Blanche and SPS Pretty Girl on tap with your fine boys for '08. Looks like Winterwood and Bridlewood will have an exciting few years."
"I finally had time to sit down and watch the DVD in its entirety. It's great, needless to say! And I love Dacaprio even more. ...what a mover! He looks like a blast. Thanks for the disc and thanks for making this cross possible." Pat
Dacaprio was the third most expensive stallion at the Stallion Licensing in Verden, Germany in 1998 when he ws purchased by Jens and Susanne Meyer for their stallion station in Dorum, Germany. Dacaprio passed his performance test at Adelheidsdorf the following year as a three-year-old with the sixth-highest Class I Dressage Index of 122.00 points.
Dacaprio is internationally recognized for both his successes in the show ring with Susanne Meyer and for his ability as a sire to stamp his offspring with his wonderfully elastic gaits, athleticism, beauty, as well as his exemplary character and rideability. In the Hanoverian breeding region in Germany, his positive influence both as a performer and as a prepotent sire is still very much in evidence.
At the age of three and four Dacaprio won several under saddle and Materiale Championships. As a three-year-old, he won the German Hanoverian Championships over all 3 and 4 year-olds in Verden with the exceptional overall score of 8.9.
In Verden, at the Hanoverian Championships, as a three-year-old, Dacaprio received one score of 8.5 for his canter and four scores of 9 for walk, trot, rideability and conformation.
Also in 2001, Dacaprio was successful at the International Sire Horse Show in Zwolle, Netherlands. As a six-year-old he continued his list of success with victories and placements in dressage performance tests up to M Level as the winner of M/A-dressage tests (Intermediate level).
DACAPRIO--SUCCESSFUL PERFORMER & PREPOTENT SIRE
Dacaprio photographed in a rare photo opportunity with a male rider--Dacaprio was exclusively trained, ridden and shown by his 110 lb. female owner, Susanne Meyer. He was and will always be known in Germany as a "lady's horse".
"This reputation is what our American riders need from a Hanoverian stallion. Obviously, many of our professional and most of our adult amateur riders in the US are not large, German men. I feel our U.S. riders need horses of Dacaprio's type and rideability. We are thrilled for the opportunity to offer Dacaprio to our North American riders and breeders!" Barbara Schmidt, DVM
DACAPRIO - PRODUCING MODERN, ELEGANT RIDEABLE TYPE
Great impulsion, high elasticity and enormous rideability are Dacaprio's trademarks which he passes on to his descendants. He is well known internationally as a stallion who very consistently produces an attractive, modern type of sport horse.
Barbara Schmidt, DVM/Bridlewood Farm feels very strongly that "Dacaprio is just what our American riders are looking for when selecting a suitable stallion for their mares--he is remarkably consistent in passing on his outstanding gaits, beautiful, elegant conformation, and perhaps most importantly, his tremendous willingness and rideability to his offspring."
So far, Dacaprio has sired three licensed sons and more then 20 mares that are candidates to the State Premium Award. He has a breeding value of 140 (90 % reliability) and belongs to the top 100 dressage sires of Germany in the breeding value estimation of the German National Equestrian Federation (FN).
DACAPRIO - PRODUCER OF OFFSPRING WITH SUPERIOR RIDEABILITY
From his first foal crop, Dacaprio's extremely successful daughter, FBW Dejavu (Dacaprio/Gluckspilz) with Nadine Plaster placed second in the Southern German Championship and WON the Bundeschampionate (Federal Championships of Young Horses) in Warendorf as a four-year-old in 2004!
In 2005, FBW Dejavu won the Bronze Medal at the World Championships for Five-Year-Old Dressage Horses in Verden, Germany and placed fourth in the World Championships For Six-Year-Old Dressage Horses in Verden in 2006!

DACAPRIO - SIRE OF SPORT HORSES IN ALL DISCIPLINES
Dacaprio son Braveheart (Dacaprio/Raphael/Pik Koenig/Graphit)was selected for the Hanoverian Stallion Licensing in Verden. In 2005, Braveheart (named for his heart shaped star and his courage over fences) with Daniel Lahmann placed in the Five-Year-Old Jumping Horse Class at the Bundeschampionate (Federal Championships of Young Horses).
In 2006, Didi le Grand with Jan Bursch was successful in the Bundeschampionate Class for Event Horses. Like his sire Dacaprio, Del Mondo (Dacaprio/Lungau) was also the winner of the Verden Riding Horse Championships (over all 3 and 4-year olds) which also qualified him to represent Hanover at the 2006 Bundeschampionate in dressage prior to being sold to Italy as an FEI prospect.
DACAPRIO - SIRE OF EXCEPTIONAL JUMPING TALENT
Dacaprio is noted as a dressage sire but many of his offspring are also highly successful in the hunter/jumper ring and as eventing horses. As a sire of a modern type of riding horse, Dacaprio's offspring are highly versitile in all the sport horse disciplines.
DACAPRIO - SUCCESSFUL SIRE OF STALLIONS
A son of Dacaprio out of a Weltmeyer/Goldstein/Prinz Gaylord mare won the 2008 Zweibrucken stallion licensing in S. W. Germany! To date, Dacaprio has sired three licensed sons and more than 20 mares that are States Premium Award candidates. He belongs to the top 100 dressage sires of Germany in the breeding value estimation of the German National Equestrian Federation (FN) and is listed in the top 15 for Dressage (145 pts.) and Type (147 pts.) in the Hannoveraner Jahrbuch Hengst.
DACAPRIO - SIRE OF SUCCESSFUL MARES
Dacaprio has established himself internationally as a vesatile sire of successful sport horses. He is a proven supplier of horses for auctions in Verden as well as many noted offspring in competition including two licensed sons, several winners in conformation classes, mare testings and foal shows. Many mares taking their Mare Performance Tests in Germany have received the high score of 8.0 or better in riding ability.
DAYLIGHT - SUCCESSFUL COMPETITOR NOW IN USA
In 2006, Daylight, now renamed DaLana, with Hendrik Gaebek received third place honors at the German Riding Horse Championships in Verden and was nominated for the Bundeschampionate in Dressage.
This highly successful mare was imported to the United States by FEI Dressage Trainer/Competitor Gina Duran, Topline Dressage, CA and will begin competition in the U.S. in 2008. Photos: Hansen Images.
DACAPRIO - SIRE OF GOLD MEDAL FOALS
In 2006, Dacaprio was the sire of the gold medal winning foal at six foal shows in Baden-Wuttemberg in South Germany. Because his offspring were already so highly esteemed (especially the South German bred, FBW Dejavu) and due to his own successes in M/A level dressage tests, Dacaprio ws awarded Main Premium Stallion for Baden-Wuttemberg and was leased to their German State Stud for their breeders in 2006 and 2007.

DACAPRIO IN GERMANY AT HENGSTSTATION JENS MEYER
Dacaprio was purchased at the Verden Stallion Licensing in 1998 by Jens and Susanne Meyer/Hengststaion Jens Meyer. Aside from being a very successful stallion for their stallion station, Dacaprio was well loved due to his wonderfully kind temperament. He is pictured with Jens and Susanne Meyer and their young daughter Svea who rode him in competitions (photo to left). He was always a most popular stallion at the farm's many stallion shows and exhibitions.
Jens Meyer says, "My idea was to find a stallion that could breed foals that looked great. When I was at the State Stud at Celle, we had Absatz, and it was always easy to sell his foals because they were so pretty – and this was my idea with Dacaprio, and it works the same. We have a lot of W line blood here in our area and it is a very good combination with Dacaprio."
"He is very useful to get the modern riding type. I think this comes from Caprimond – he is the sire with the best ranking for riding points and type. The children of Dacaprio all seem to get his neck and his pretty face. He is very good with the W bloodlines; you get the very good gaits from the W line but most of the time it is difficult to get the type. Many breeders in Germany use Dacaprio to get his modern type and rideability."

DAVIGNON I - SIRE OF DACAPRIO
Exceptional presence and lofty movement put Davignon into the limelight of Germany’s producers from the very start of his career. Since winning the Bundeschampionat (German National Championships) in Warendorf at 4 years of age, Davignon developed into a highly successful Grand Prix dressage stallion.
Davignon's sire Donnerhall is considered the leading Sire of the Century due to his many world accomplishments, including 1997 Team Gold Medal and individual Bronze Medal Winner at the European in Verden and Team Gold and 4th place individual finish at the 1998 World Championships in Rome. Both of his grandsires, Donnerwetter and Pik Bube, along with the full sister to Davignon's dam won many FEI level dressage competitions.
However, it is Davignon's offspring that give him true international status. Davignon is one of Europe's most sought-after stallions. Nine offspring of Davignon represented him in the 1998 Bundeschampionat in Warendorf. (It is prestigious for a stallion to be represented by even a single offspring in this annual event!) In 1997, Duvalier (Davignon-Bolero-Wendekreis) proudly claimed the championship title for his father in both the German and European Championships for five-year old dressage prospects. Duvalier, currently successful up to Grand Prix level, placed third in the final of the Piaff-Förderpreis with his rider Anna- Katharine Lüttgen in 2005.
With such accomplishments and earnings of his offspring, it is clear why Davignon has captured leading positions in the FN-index.
DONNERHALL - DRESSAGE STALLION OF THE CENTRUY
Donnerhall is the paternal grandsire of Dacaprio. Donnerhall is the world's most winning dressage stallion. He had several Grand Prix wins including a team gold at the World Championships in Rome in 1998. He has more than 50 approved sons and in 1997 he was selected as the stallion of the year in Germany.
Donnerhall has innumerable Grand Prix victories including the prestigious Volvo World Cup. He was the champion of the German Dressage Derby and Winner of the Team Gold and individual bronze at the World Championships in Den Haag in 1994. Donnerhall has won more than 2 million DK.
CAPRIMOND - MATERNAL GRANDSIRE OF DACAPRIO
Caprimond was the reserve champion of the Stallion licensing in Neumünster in 1987, and the following year he won his stallion performance test at Adelheidsdorf with a score of 135.35 (1/56), placing first in the dressage on 147.76. In 1988 he was the reserve-champion of the three year olds at the German Riding Horse Championships in Schenefeld. In 1989, he was awarded first prize at the DLG Exhibition in Frankfurt. He was a successful dressage competitor up to Grand Prix level.
Caprimond produced 224 dressage competitors and 13 approved sons, including the brothers, Canaster I and II (private stallions in Oldenburg), Hohenstein I and II (the latter in Hungary, and the former stands alongside his sire at Medingen). Another son, Caprigold, who was raised in Brandenburg, won his licensing in 1996, while the approved Hanoverian stallion, Contucci won a number of riding horse classes before being sold to the United States. Caprimond was the sire of the best German three year old mare, Donaumärchen II, at the Federal Mare show where she was also a member of the Federal Champion family. In 1995, Caprimond was declared Elite Trakehner Stallion and in 1998 he was crowned Trakehner Stallion of the Year.
Caprimond competed in Grand Prix with his young rider, Theresa Wahler who began showing Caprimond in exhibitions when she was 12 years old!
DONNERWETTER - PATERNAL GREAT GRANDSIRE OF DACAPRIO
Donnerwetter was by Disput x Matador and was trained at Grand Prix level. He made his name on the international dressage scene with Belgian rider Decia de Pauw and from 1989 onwards under Herbert Rehbein. In 1990 Gronwoldhof sold Donnerwetter to Windsome Farm in Virginia, USA, where he was up for stud to a select group of mares until his death. Donnerwetter has five licensed sons and five registered State Premium Mares. Although Donnerwetter was a superb stallion himself, he was somewhat overshadowed by his illustrious son Donnerhall.
PIK BUBE I - PATERNAL GREAT GRANDSIRE OF DACAPRIO
Pik Bube was a successful sire in his own right, but more importantly he was one half of the magic equation: Donnerhall x Pik Bube - for the overwhelming majority of successful Donnerhall progeny are out of mares by Pik Bube.
Pik Bube stood at the Grönwohldhof studfarm - where he formed a hugely successful partnership with resident trainer, Herbert Rehbein winning 11 out of 12 advanced classes in their only competition season.
Pik Bube’s sire, Pik König is considered the most important son of Pix As xx, the famous Thoroughbred sire of showjumpers. Pik Bube’s dam, Franka was also a producer of dressage champions.
Pik Bube sired performers in all disciplines. His daughter, Pikantje was Federal German riding horse champion of 1981, and Pik Bube’s Girl won the 1990 Federal Mare Show in Verden. Pik Primaire, Pik Royal were amongst the 49 of his offspring that were successful in advanced dressage, while 19 showjumpers achieved advanced level.
As a brood mare sire, Pik Bube has been a phenomenon, especially when teamed with Donnerhall: Davignon, Don Primero, Don Schufro, Donatelli, Donnerbube, Dream of Glory, Duntroon - all bred on that magic cross Donnerhall/Pik Bube.
KARON - MATERNAL GREAT GRANDSIRE OF DACAPRIO
The Arogno son, Karon, sired Caprimond. Karon himself was a premium stallion at his licensing in Neumunster and completed his stallion testing as a Class I stallion. Karon was utilized not only in the Trakehner breeding district, but also in Oldenburg. In his first foal crop he hit a home run with his wonderfully successful son Caprimond.
CARRY & KIKS - THE DAM LINE OF DACAPRIO
Dacaprio's dam, Carry, (grazing mare) by Caprimond, impresses with her steady breeding successes: two certified stallions (both were sold at a price exceeding DM 100.000), and several expensive foals at the auctions in Medingen. She was herself successful at performance tests through elementary level. Her full sister Chippy is dam of AHS Elite Stallion, De Laurentis and Bridlewood's SPS Donna De Nira. Dacaprio´s further dam line with Laterit and Kilady xx shows even more proven performance bloodlines. Kilady xx was a successful upper level eventing competition mare. His grand dam Kiks (standing mare) out of Kilady xx is pictured at left.
KILADY XX - MATERNAL GREAT GRANDDAM OF DACAPRIO
Thoroughbred Kilady xx, dam of Kiks, the mother of full sisters Carry (Dacaprio's dam) and Chippy (the dam of DeLaurentis and our SPS Donna De Nira) was a very successful event horse. With her elderly rider, Kilady xx won both jumping and eventing competitions, and participated in the great Military (Eventing Competition) in Achselschwang. When bred to Wellington, she produced two successful M-level dressage horses, Kira and Kessa, as well as the CIC* sport horse, Wüstenfuchs.
