(Werther/Akzent II/Waidmannsdank xx)
Breeder: Dr. Robert Lucas, Aiken, South Carolina, USA
Brigitta has now passed on but her legacy lives on with her daughter, Gisella, by Guarantor. We will always treasure the many beautiful foals she produced during her highly successful career as a brood mare.
Werther's Brigitta was a successful broodmare with her previous owner, Holsteiner breeder Karen Reid, Fox Fire Farm, Fox Island, WA. While at Fox Fire Farm, Brigitta was inspected with the American Holstein Horse Association and the ISR/Oldenburg N.A. and was chosen as a Premium Mare in both of their Studbooks.
She received Reserve Champion Honors at the AHHA inspection and was also the Reserve Champion Mare at the American Hanoverian Association inspection held at Bridlewood Farm. She was inspected as an 11 year old and received the overall score of 7.2. This made her eligible for Elite Mare Candidate status with the AHS. At her AHS Inspection she received the excellent score of 8 for Impusion/Elasticity (Trot), in addition to the outstanding score of 9 for her feminine head and expression.
Werther's Brigitta consistently produces beautifully correct, athletic foals that are known for their kind, willing temperament and generous character.
Brigitta's sire Werther was awarded the first Hanoverian Stallion of the Year Award in Germany due to his top FN rank for siring dressage, materiale, jumping and driving horses. He held this very high ranking for nearly a decade, earning the title of "Versatile Werther." His broodmares and their daughters are sought throughout Europe and the U.S.

||WERTHER - SIRE OF BRIGITTA|
Werther's Brigitta's sire is Werther, who is regarded as a classic in his own lifetime and was selected as the very first Hanoverian Stallion of the Year back in 1992. He had exceptional movement and was a great producer of versatile, powerful horses with outstanding rideability.
Werther's get are excelling in all disciplines on an international level. This is due to the strong dressage influence of his dam line combined with the strong jumping blood from his sire.
When Werther died at the age of 28 he was, in the words of Dr Axel Brockmann, of the State Stud Celle, "in many aspects, he was number one." Right until the time of his death, Werther was one of the most sought after stallions in the Hannoverian breeding district. By the time of his death, he had sired 53 descendents who had won dressage competitions, while 35 had won Grand Prix jumping contests!
His many noteable offspring competing at the highest levels of both dressage and jumping disciplines earned him the title of "Versatile Werther."
||WERTHER - A MAJOR INFLUENCE TO THE HANOVERIAN BREED|
Based on the results of his 897 progeny to compete he has a dressage breeding ranking of 127 and a jumping ranking of 106. These figures are from the Hanoverian Stallion Yearbook 2000, and will no doubt continue to grow even after his death.
According to Dr. Axel Brockmann, Assistant Managing Director of the State Stud of Celle, "Werther influenced the breed like hardly any other stallion can." As the sire of 548 inspected mares, and 39 approved sons, Werther will continue to influence the breed for many years to come.
||WENDEKREIS - PATERNAL GRANDSIRE OF BRIGITTA|
Wendekreis sired by the reknown Ferdinand, sired over 50 approved stallions and 400 Main Studbook Mares in Germany including Werther, the 1992 Stallion of the Year. The F-line produces horses known for producing horses which excel in dressage and jumping.
||FERDINAND - PATERNAL GREAT GRANDSIRE OF BRIGITTA|
A mainstay of the part-Thoroughbred Feiner Kerl F-line, Ferdinand became famous as one of the best producers of jumpers in the world. Ferdinand stood at Celle in troubled post-war Germany when horse breeding and riding sport were at an all time low. Most breeders were more prone to keep thier fillies during these hard times and it was not until Ferdl, the most famous son of Ferdinand, won the Olympic gold medal in Rome with rider Alwin Schockemöhle, in the Prize of nations that Ferdinand gained notoriety.
It was soon discovered that Ferdinand passed on phenomenal jumping talent and the qualities of courage, honesty and loyalty to his sons. His get won over 1.5 million German marks, a record which stood until recently, all after he himself was eighteen years old. Ferdinand sired superior jumper and also excellent dressage horses such as Dr. Reiner Klimke's Olympic mount Mehmed. Ferdinand sired 8 breeding stallions including Wedekind, Winnetou, and Wendekreis, 20 States Premium mares, 134 main studbook mares and 60 studbook mares. Many others were competition horses, valued for their reliability.
His half brother Flipper also has incredible scope, speed and courage as an international show jumper. With rider Hugo Simon he won 12 Grand Prix and 75 class Sa (highest level Open Jumpers) jumping competitions.
||FERDL - OLYMPIC GOLD MEDALIST & SON OF FERDINAND|
The Olympic gold medal success of the show jumper Ferdl was responsible for bringing his sire Ferdinand into the spotlight. Ferdl, with rider Alwin Schockemöhle won the gold in Rome in the Prize of Nations, together with H.G. Winkler on Halla and Fritz Thiedemann on Meteor. Ferdl had a superb style of jumping. He had a great heart, was honest to the point of self-sacrifice and never refused to jump.
In 1989 a line, which goes back to Zenebog and Fling was divided into two parts. The W-Line and the F-Line. The F-Line begins with the Fling son Feiner Kerl. Feiner Kerl produced 114 licensed sons, the most well known of which was Ferdinand, the most famous producer of jumping horses in the world. In former times, these stallion started their names with a "W" until after 1989 when the names began with "F".
Winnetou, Wendkind and Wedekreis were three prominant sons of Ferdinand. Wendekreis produced his best son Werther, whose mother was sired by the Thoroughbred Marcio xx, noted refining and dressage sire and Wagner who in turn produced Wanderer, sire of jumping horses. Werther also produced Feiner Graf, another famous F-Line stallion.
Fabriano (Wendulan/Wendekreis/Duellant) is a popular modern F-Line stallion well known for producing horses of superior movement and rideability. He is the noted sire of Fabuluex.

||AKZENT II - MATERNAL GRANDSIRE OF BRIGITTA|
Akzent II was regarded as one of the best producers of rideablity in modern day horse breeding. Through his noted sire Absatz, Akzent II is known for producing elegant, modern type offspring with noble expression, especially good neck, shoulder and saddle position and expressive movement.
This "A" line crosses especially well with the Grande line, adding elegance to the G-line mares. He is also the maternal sire of the successful competition horse Dimension and the famous Grand Prix dressage champion and exceptional sire De Niro by Donnerhall.
||AKZENT II - MATERNAL GRANDSIRE OF BRIGITTA|
Akzent II is the son of the legendary Absatz whose impact as a sire of dressage horses is still evident today. Before Akzent II came to Oldenburg, he gained a great reputation in Hanover as a private stallion at the Amselhof stud and as a stallion on lease at the Celle state stud in Altenruch. In Oldenburg, he continued his successful stud career siring many dressage champions Aczidos and Adios and many Oldenburg premium mares. His two sons, Amboseli and Alabaster, passed their stallion perfomance test in 1992.
Brigitta's other Maternal Grandsire is Waidmannsdank xx, one of the most influential thoroughbred stallions of the post-war period in Hanover. He is the leading thoroughbred sire of Celle with regard to the number of approved stallions and main-studbook mares sired by him.
||ABSATZ - MATERNAL GREAT GRANDSIRE OF BRIGITTA|
Through his son Absatz, the Trakehner stallion Abglanz founded a sire line of international importance. Absatz was the champion stallion of the 1962 Verden licensing. Absatz was a stallion with a very refined head and light, free action. This father and son line has had an enormous influence in refining the Hanoverian from farm horse to modern sport horse. He gave the modern Hanoverian the characteristic and incomparable "Absatz type" which this breed was envied of for a long time and by which this breed still profits in the second and third generations even today. A noble head with an impressive face, ideal neck and saddle position, as well as light-footed paces combined with a good shoulder are the characteristics of his offspring.
Absatz was his Abglanz's most famous son and sired 37 licensed stallions and 17 fully licensed and approved stallions including Admiral, Andiamo, Aktuell, Akzent I & II, Argenten I & II and Arsenik, Sire of Adios II, Bridlewood Farms first Hanoverian stallion. He also produced 84 States Premium mares and has 823 total registered offspring in Hanover, 446 of which are approved mares in the studbook. Equally impressive are his 348 registered competition offspring whose earnings are 943,787.00 DM.
